Jio4GVoice always Offline with new JioFi 2 Routers

Hi everyone, today we'll talk about a problem that is being faced by a lot of Jio customers recently. Specifically by customers of the new JioFi 2 Router with OLED display. The new JioFi device has apparently has some kind of problem that causes the Jio4GVoice app to never go Online. Which means, users are unable to make calls with their Jio sim at all. It has definitely left a lot of users of the device with a feeling of being cheated by Jio.

I recently faced this issue with a JioFi 2 router I bought on 21st September. The Jio4GVoice wouldn't go Online at all. However, calls made over VoLTE and using an older JioFi device(without OLED display) using the same sim card were working as usual. This problem is occurring only on the newer JioFi 2 devices with OLED displays. I visited a Jio Service Center regarding the same issue and they told me that there is a specific problem with the hardware that has been used in the newer devices- the JMR520, which has been re-branded as the new JioFi 2 router. They said a FOTA Software Update will be deployed to all the newer JioFi devices to fix this problem within the end of this week or in the first half of the next week. They also advised me to keep the JioFi router turned on for as much longer a time as possible so that I can receive the FOTA update as soon as it is released.

So, keep your devices turned on most of the time and hope for the update to arrive as early as possible. Also, consider performing a factory reset of your JioFi router once the update is done. For performing a factory reset, either visit jiofi.local.html/index.html from your JioFi router's Wi-Fi network and enter "administrator" as both username and password. Or, you could use a pin of some sort (a sim ejector tool or a toothpick) to manually push the reset button on your JioFi router (present underneath the back cover). For more details on resetting your router, follow the instruction manual that came with it. Hope this helps!

TRAINS:-

So I will be posting after a lot of days. Sorry for being inactive for over a year and now I will bring you latest news about the development of Indian railways in the trains section of NERDISTAN

Today I will write about the new and  refurbished coaches of Kolkata metro.

Suresh Prabhu inaugurated the first of this 7 to be refurbished rakes on 9th june:

In 1984 the first metro of India ran in Kolkata for 3.4 km. Now that has turned to a vast 28.1 km route with 5 other routes in various phases of constructions. The trains in 1984 were procured from NGEF Karnataka and were decommissioned a few years back as they were beyond there age of work. Recently they were refurbished by Titagarh Wagons Limited and Kolkata metro jointly at the Noapara depot of Kolkata metro

News giant "Newsmen" reported that, "The train has now rejoined the fleet and comes with a host of new features (see list at the bottom) to aid passengers but ironically still lacks air conditioning which is quite vital, especially while travelling underground. Following its inauguration, the train made one trip from Noapara to New Garia and back. Over the next 18 months, the rest of the 6 train-sets will be refurbished and pressed back into service one after another."

Here are some of the features as reported by NEWSMEN:-

  1. Old passenger seats and backrests replaced with new ones of polycarbonate material.
  2. Transparent glass partition at both ends of the seats similar to the ones in the AC coaches.
  3. Audio visual passenger information system along with a passenger route indication board provided.
  4. Old ventilation fans replaced with low-noise fans that will make the coaches more airy and less humid.
  5. LED tube lights provided in place of fluorescent tube lights inside the coaches.
  6. All interior panels replaced with anodized aluminum panels similar to AC rakes.
  7. Old windows replaced with new modified ones that are easy to handle and will not get stuck.
  8. Old vestibules replaced by new ones that have transparent sheet to allow daylight in pass through.
  9. All existing handrails replaced with new ones.
  10. Old aluminum chequered flooring replaced by fire resistance PVC flooring similar to AC coaches.
  11. Fresh coat of paint on the exterior that has giving it a brand new look.

I have travelled in Kolkata, Delhi, Gurgaon metro and one thing that I felt Kolkata lacked was real time maps. Inclusion of those are a big boost and feel that its a good step but its  biggest con is that the rakes are not ac. The CNR Dahlian rakes will come next year and these coaches will feel tough competition.

So this is it. I will post more about anything new I find :)

Official Lollipop Update for Micromax Unite 2 will soon be available via OTA(Over the air)

A few days ago, we showed how to flash the official Android Lollipop 5.0 update on your Micromax Unite 2. However, it was a leaked version of the firmware and there was acknowledgement regarding the same from Micromax. Well, good news is Micromax on Thursday officially declared the roll out of Android Lollipop for Unite 2 (both 4GB and 8GB versions). According to sources, Unite 2 users will start getting the update from Tuesday onwards on their phones. So, make sure to check your phone for a Software Upgrade notification or you could simply check for the update manually by going to Settings - About Phone - Software Update - Check for update.

We've flashed this firmware earlier and found it quite interesting, here are some pros and cons of the firmware which we'd like to share with you guys-

PROS

- Almost stock Lollipop experience

- A slight yet noticeable improvement in performance
- Being an official firmware, it has few or no bugs
- USB OTG(USB On-The-Go) has been fixed

CONS

- Full of bloatware!
- A slight deterioration in battery life
- No transparent status bar

Micromax Unite 2 has been a strong competitor of various smartphones in its price category for quite sometime now with it's stunning specifications consisting of 1.3Ghz quad core MT6582 processor, 1GB of RAM, a 5-megapixel rear and a 2-megapixel front camera, and lots of other interesting features including the support of 21 Indian languages(such as, Hindi, Bengali, Gujarati, etc.).
Now that the Unite 2 has runs on Lollipop, it'd be an even more strong contender, as even branded phones in its price segment such as the Motorola Moto E, which is probably the only Motorola smartphone that hasn't received the Lollipop Update. However, just in case you want to buy a smartphone in the 6,000-8,000 rupees price segment that runs on Lollipop and you don't find the Unite 2 appealing enough, then you can consider the following smartphones:

  • Android One™ Smartphones - These smartphones were made by Google's own initiative under which it entered into an agreement with Karbonn, Micromax and Spice. Right now, under this category you can buy thee smartphones, Karbonn Sparkle V, Micromax Canvas A1 and Spice Dream Uno, all of these phones have the same specifications. These devices have been already updated Lollipop by Google itself, so it is expected that it'll receive more updates in future as well.
  • Xolo One - Going by its name you might think that this is an Android One™ device as well. however, the truth is that it is NOT an official and Android One™ device, which means it will not receive updates directly from Google's servers. Quite ironically, this device received the Lollipop update even before the official Android One™ phones.

There are a few more Lollipop based smartphone in more or less the same price category which you might want to consider before buying one.

JUST IN CASE: If you are not patient enough for the official update to hit your phone, and you're not afraid of taking risks, visit this link to find out as to how you can flash the Lollipop firmware for yourself.

An experience of duronto express

Trains:-
A RIDE OF DIGHA-HOWRAH DURONTO EXPRESS ;)
DURONTO is a class of super fast , non-stop, luxurious train of Inilways. DURONTOs were brought in  action by erstwhile Railways Minister of India ,Honorable Mamata Banerjee in 2009. These trains ply between certain important stations and are liked by people as they gave no commercial halts but only certain technical halts. Dgha-Hwh is one of the most shortest DURONTOs plying between the sea center of Digha and Kolkata, the capital of West Bengal.
Some information about the train:-
Departure from Digha Flag Station:-15:35
Arrival at Howrah Junction :-18:40
Time of journey :-185 minutes
Distance covered:- 189 Kms.
Rake consist:- 7 Ac chair cars, 1Executive Class
General loco :- SRC WAP 4
Average Speed:- 61 Kmph
Class:-DURONTO

DEPARTURE:- As I reached the Digha station , by 3 pm I saw the whole consist on the station, I could see a SRC WAP 4 far away reversing to couple with the rake, I wanted to the front to the see the coupling, I was unlucky as I was caught in some work, when I went to see the loco I saw the driver testing the loco and the brakes.
Meal :- The catering charges are included with the fare. As soon as the train left Digha every customer was served with a bottle of Rail Neer or water. After leaving the station time we were served with Evening tea and snacks. The meal had a wet tissue and a Frooti as a Welcome drink . With that we were served with a veg sandwich, kachuri, laddu,a packet of peanuts and a tea/coffee kit.
Panskura:- Just before  Panskura  the line meets the KGP-HWH MAIN LINE,we halted for few minutes in the steep turn as the train had to curve in the middle line and a train towards KGP was passing... Once we were into the main line the train Really  became  DURONTO or really fast.
Santragachi :-We entered Santragachi, the premium shed of South Eastern Railway. It has a large Electric Loco Shed consisting only of WAP 4, an electric trip shed of mainly freight locos like WAG 7 (CNB, ASN, KGP) ,a diesel loco shed (mainly KGP WDM 3a for shunting purposes) and a coaching yard.

Arrival at HOWRAH :- We slowly moved from SRC moving through Ramrajatala , Dasnagar , Tikiapara at a very low speed ,then emerged the nets of points and interchanges. We carved into platform 20 after a long parallel run with a KGP local.
B-)  :-)
